Members Can Earn Awards for Education, Service and Competition
The Dressage Company recognizes and celebrates the achievements of members in three areas: education, service and competition. A certificate will be awarded to all members who meet the criteria for the award in each category. Additional prizes may be awarded depending on donations and/or where our club’s budget stands at the end of the season. In future years we can hopefully offer more substantial prizes. Awards will be presented at a special meeting or event in December or January.
Education Award
Education Awards will be given to all members who spend at least 20 hours in educational activities related to dressage, horse care, or related topics. This could include riding in or auditing clinic (ringside watching rides), attending educational forums or presentations, and using online educational resources from USDF or other organizations. Regular lessons from the member’s usual trainer do not count. Hours for activities completed by October 31 will count. The award applicant will need to submit a log of their activities to the awards coordinator (see below) by November 15. Download the Education Hours log form on the Documents page to track your activities.
Service Award
Service Awards will be given to all members who spend at least 20 hours in dressage or horse related service activities. This could include service to The Dressage Company or another horse related non-profit organization, volunteering at shows, clinics, or other events, or volunteering with a recognized horse rescue organization or an organization that serves clients with special needs through riding or other interaction with horses. Hours for activities completed by October 31 will count. The award applicant will need to submit a log of their activities to the awards coordinator (see below) by November 15. Download the Volunteer Hours log form on the Documents page to track your activities.
Competition Award
Competition Awards will be given to all horse and rider combinations (the rider must be a member) who achieve a score of at least 60% twice under two different judges in the same dressage level. Riders can earn awards for more than one level and on more than one horse. Eligible levels include the traditional dressage levels (Intro through Grand Prix), Musical Freestyle levels, eventing dressage levels, western dressage levels, and gaited dressage levels. The award certificate will indicate whether scores were earned at schooling shows or USEF recognized competitions (for traditional dressage). The award applicant will need to submit copies of the front of their scoresheets from qualifying rides to the awards coordinator by the due date.
